The Ford Edge
The new Ford Edge is one of Ford's most popular new vehicles. The new crossover is now the third best selling mid-size crossover behind the Nissan Murano and the Toyota Highlander. Because of this Ford has increased its sales forecast for the Edge from 100,000 to 120,000.

the new BMW 3-series Volvo C70 Excels
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has released crash test scores for the newest convertibles. The tests are pretty surprising since the new BMW 3-Series only received a marginal score, while the new Chrysler Sebring received good ratings in the crash tests. Apparently a higher price does not always mean you are getting a better car

The UK’s first Bugatti Veyron 16.4
Currently priced at Euro 1.1m plus tax ($1.4 million USD), the world's fastest car is pictured outside the Albert Hall, Kensington. Powered by a W-16 1001 hp engine, it is capable of more than 250 mph and will reach 62 mph from a standstill in 2.5 seconds.
Jack Barclay, the sole representative for Bugatti cars in the UK, is leading the world’s sales charts with over 15 orders of this exclusive limited edition car so far this year. London is fast becoming the world's super car capital with record sales for Bentley and Lamborghini.
"We are delighted to take delivery of our first Veyron," commented Dominic Lancaster, general manager of Jack Barclay Bugatti. "Interest in Bugatti has been overwhelming since the project was announced five years ago. The UK, and in particular London, has a proud tradition of being home to the world's most expensive and exciting cars. At Jack Barclay, we are extremely pleased by the number of orders at this early stage, and expect to have sold the full UK quota of cars before the end of the year."
The Bugatti Veyron can be seen this weekend taking part in the Goodwood Festival of Speed on 7 to 9 July, Goodwood, West Sussex.

2008 Porsche Cayenne
When the Porsche Cayenne was launched four years ago enthusiasts cried blasphemy. Porsche should not build sport-utilities, they said, Porsche should build sports cars. But buyers won the vote. Cayenne had what they needed in a five-passenger SUV: more cargo space than a sedan, off-highway capability, and impressive towing capacity.. They found the Cayenne technologically advanced and remarkably fast, as Porsches are supposed to be. So, they wondered, why all the hand wringing?
Cayenne's balance of style, performance, and sport-utility virtues were compelling, and it quickly became a success story for the small manufacturer of legendary sports cars. When Porsche launched Cayenne as a 2003 model, executives said they hoped to sell 20,000 of the SUVs a year. Clearly, these projections were conservative. Last year, Porsche sold more than 50,000 Cayennes. More than 150,000 have been sold in the past four years. Now, redesigned for 2008, sales of the new version have taken off, and overall Porsche sales in the U.S. hit record levels the summer of 2007. The Cayenne has been a boon for Porsche's financial planning. Its ongoing success smoothes over wildly fluctuating sports car sales, which tend to follow the consumer confidence index. Cayenne's success is helping Porsche do what enthusiasts want: develop and build great sports cars. Enough hand-wringing already.

2008 Infiniti G35 X Sedan
IntroductionThe Infiniti G35 is a true sports sedan. It features a powerful V6 engine, a sports suspension, and rear-wheel drive, all marks of sporting sedans. Rear-wheel drive offers handling response that front-wheel drive can't usually match.
There's also an all-wheel-drive model, the G35x, that gives up nothing in handling but adds capability in rainy climes and where winters bring snow.
The G35 was completely redesigned and re-engineered for 2007: New styling gave it a tauter, more buff look but without forfeiting its signature styling cues. The V6 engine was made more powerful and efficient without increasing its size. Inside is a richer, warmer look and feel, with performance-oriented enhancements that add to the driving experience.
The substantially reworked engine invites a heavy right foot, delivering its added power smoothly and strongly right up to the borderline motorcycle-level, 7500-rpm red line. A five-speed automatic transmission with manual mode remains standard across the line. However, the Sport Package kicks it up a notch, offering a choice between a six-speed manual gearbox or an automatic with Formula 1-style magnesium paddle shifters on the steering column.

For 2008, the G35 offers more choices. Most significantly, a Sport Package is now available on all-wheel-drive as well as rear-wheel-drive models. A new 18-inch wheel-and-tire package is available. Option packages have been revised, and an iPod interface is now part of the Premium Package.
Leather upholstery comes standard on all G35s along with a full complement of luxury features. The base sound system is competitive with that in any luxury sedan, while committed audiophiles will find the top-level, Studio On Wheels system from Bose delivers a richer, fuller, more intricate and crisper sound than many mega-buck home stereos. Various other options and packages add dual-zone air automatic conditioning, navigation, and self-adjusting cruise control. The Sport Package provides upgraded wheels, tires, and brakes as well as seriously supportive front seats and unique appearance items. For the ultimate in handling, tick the Sport Package plus active four-wheel steering with a firmer suspension.

2009 Lincoln MKS
IntroductionThe all-new 2009 Lincoln MKS is something different for this proud luxury marquee: a full-size sedan with its sights set on the young (by Lincoln standards). As such, the MKS is a lavishly equipped full-size luxury sedan, both grand and, in its way, grandiose. It combines an elegant new look for Lincoln, combining elements of the marque's long, impressive history with technology that, by Lincoln's lights, points the way to the luxury-car future.
From the first glance, this MKS is nothing if not a serious entry. It has dignity and clout that is likely to win over Lincoln's traditional older clientele. Its muscular, long body is trimmed plenteously with gleaming chrome highlights, giving it the flash of a thoroughbred American sedan.
The MKS interior seconds the motion; this is a sedan with class-leading roominess in the rear compartment. The styling and materials throughout, typified by elegant standard-equipment leather upholstery, confirm that this is an automobile for those accustomed to fine surroundings.
But it is in technology, more specifically, in comprehensive connectivity, that the MKS will make its bid. The MKS offers unprecedented real-time, real-world onboard communications. Lincoln marketing executives said time is the ultimate luxury and therefore the electronics systems in the MKS were designed to save the owner time. Following on Ford's successful Sync voice-activated audio systems, the MKS goes one long step further. Its Next-Generation Navigation System with Sirius Travel Link allows the switched-on owner to control vast audio programming resources, follow threatening regional weather patterns in real-time, stay informed about traffic jams ahead, keep up on the latest sports scores and find movie listings and start times.

We found its big eight-inch display easy to read and its systems easy to operate, something that can't be said of some much more expensive German cars. You can load personal CD photos on your in-dash monitor. You can find all local gas stations, listed either by nearness or in order of price per gallon. We followed the progress of a violent storm on an in-dash Doppler radar monitor, a new kind of automotive thrill. Pressing a couple of buttons displayed the five-day forecast. The system will play DVD movies with incredibly rich surround sound, and the touch-screen monitor takes running your iPod to new levels. Its voice command system indicates this technology has moved beyond the gimmick stage.
But the MKS is more than an electronics base; it must meet the standards of the contemporary automobile, somewhat as its superb forebear, the Lincoln LS, did so successfully. As a dynamic platform for freeway motoring, the MKS is first-rate, stable, steady, confidence-inspiring. It would be entirely at home driving coast to coast, and delivering an impressive 24-mpg EPA highway rating, this seems an enticing mission.

2009 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class Review
IntroductionThe Mercedes SL debuted in 1957 and has been an object of lust ever since. A two-seat, rear-wheel-drive roadster, the SL is the classic sporting Mercedes. Like the original, today's SL boasts outstanding performance. The Mercedes-Benz SL-Class has matured in every way over its six generations, quicker and faster on the one hand, more beautiful and more luxurious on the other, to the point where it lacks absolutely nothing, from its array of powerful V8 and V12 engines to its powerful stereo to its active suspension system to those all-day bucket seats. It is a marvel of automotive technology, featuring a folding steel convertible top.
For 2009, the SL models feature a whole new look, though underneath they retain the same basic platform. Also new is the 2009 Mercedes SL63 AMG, sporting a powerful normally aspirated V8 engine.
Speaking of which, each of the four models that comprise the 2009 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class is designed around a different engine. Each has its own character. Each has its own charms, but all are fast. There's no such thing as a slow SL, not in the current lineup.

The SL550 is plenty, trust us. Its 5.5-liter V8 engine emits an uncharacteristically barbaric growl for a Mercedes. Boasting 382 horsepower, it's ready and willing to accelerate at all rev ranges, and it comes with the latest in transmissions, a seven-speed automatic with a manual shiftgate. Overall, the SL550 is a sporty roadster with quick steering and nimble moves. Compared with the other models, the Mercedes SL550 seems like the deal of the century for $95,900 MSRP.
The SL600 has a more immediate power than the SL550, yet the engine is considerably quieter. Our advice: Don't drive a Mercedes SL600 unless $136,100 is burning a hole in your pocket because you might fall in love with it. Fast and comfortable, there's lots to love here. Its butter smooth twin-turbo 6.0-liter V12 is time-tested and produces 517 horsepower. More noticeable and oh so wonderful is its gobs of torque, a bottomless well of power available when cruising along: specifically, 612 pound-feet of torque from 1900 to 3500 rpm. The V12 comes with a five-speed automatic that can also be shifted manually. With its heavier V12 engine, the SL600 is less nimble and more of a tourer than a pure sports car. But as a touring car, say driving from L.A. to Vegas, the SL600 is pure joy.
Since the beginning, the SL's laurels have been raised by performance models, and two AMG versions are available in the current lineup. The 2009 Mercedes SL63 AMG uses a normally aspirated 518-hp 6.2-liter V8 mated to a new seven-speed automated manual transmission called the AMG Speedshift MCT 7. The SL63 AMG is a meaner version of the SL550. It's the sportiest SL and, arguably, the sportiest car Mercedes-AMG has ever built. The SL 63 AMG is brutally quick and fast when the throttle pedal is pushed into the carpet, yet it is still quiet enough, and docile enough to use as a commuter car in heavy traffic every day. Stand on the gas and it's even louder than the SL550.

2009 Hyundai Genesis
GetDiggUrl( location.href );
digg_bgcolor = '#ffffff';

IntroductionThe 2009 Hyundai Genesis is a totally new luxury sport sedan. With its rear-wheel drive and available V8 power, the Genesis aspires to the BMW 5 Series, Lexus GS, Mercedes-Benz E-Class, and Infiniti M, but is priced more like American competitors such as the Chrysler 300 and Pontiac G8.
The Genesis seats five and is offered with V6 or V8 engines. Hyundai is best known here for the econoboxes it sold when it first came to America, but the Korean automaker has been moving upmarket for several years. The Genesis represents its biggest leap yet and is the company's most expensive and most luxurious car.
Inside, the Genesis is nicely appointed, with chrome accents, wood and aluminum trim, and soft-touch materials. Easy-to-read electroluminescent gauges greet the driver, and the available navigation system includes voice activation and a multimedia interface that is easier to use than those from most luxury manufacturers. An iPod interface is standard, and customers can choose a 17-speaker audio system that has 7.1 surround and sounds great. Room in the front and rear seats is excellent.

The Genesis marks the debut of Hyundai's first V8, a 4.6-liter dual overhead cam engine with 375 horsepower. The V8 provides plenty of smooth, willing power and gets decent fuel economy. Also available is a 290-hp 3.8-liter V6. The V6 offers enough pep for most needs and has the benefit of an extra couple mpg. Both engines run quietly and are mated to smooth-shifting six-speed automatic transmissions with manual shiftgates.
Hyundai touts the Genesis as a sport sedan, with a rigid rear-wheel-drive structure and advanced five-link front and rear suspensions. On twisty roads, it performs well, with a generally nimble feel and a fairly flat disposition through corners. Of the two models, the V6 rotates easier through turns, while the V8 is more prone to push. The V8 model, on the other hand benefits from electrohydraulic steering that keeps the boost up in the tightest slaloms, while the V6's hydraulic steering can bind in quick changes of direction.

2009 Audi TTS
The TT has always been more high-pose than high-performance. Ever since the first one hit the road 10 years ago, it's been a style leader. That's fine. We all like handsome cars. But when it comes to driving fun, the TT has never quite lived up to its supermodel looks.
The TTS -- available as a coupe and a roadster -- is Audi's attempt to dial up the dynamics and win over the dedicated followers of fast cars as well as fashion. The direct-injection 2.0L engine, already familiar to TT buyers in 200-hp form, gets a bigger turbocharger, revised block and head, new intake and exhaust, and various other internal revisions. Power jumps to 265 hp. Marry that to standard quattro four-wheel drive and the VW Group's brilliant S-tronic dual-clutch semi-auto paddle-shift gearbox, and the TTS offers performance that finally elevates the Audi sportster into the Porsche league: 0-62 mph in 5.2 seconds is quicker than a Cayman.

The Tesla Roadster
The Thrust SSC (Super Sonic Car) is the fastest land based vehicle in the world. As the name suggests it can break the sound barrier, therefore obliterating any other car the has touched this world in terms of performance. The SSC was designed by Richard Noble, Glynne Bowsher, Ron Ayers and Jermey Bliss and is a British jet propelled car. The Thrust SSc set the world’s Land Speed Record on October 15, 1997. It achieved a top speed of 1,228 kilometers per hour, breaking the sound barrier in the Black Rock Desert, Nevada. However to achieve these immense speeds the SSC required a huge amount of brute force. The SSC was powered by two after-burning Rolls Royce Spey turbofan engines, attached to the main frame of the SSC. Each of the engines generated a mind-blowing 25,000 pounds of force, capable of accelerating a 10 ton car, from 0 to 100 mph in just 4 seconds. You may be thinking that to today any car can accelerate very similar. Yet if you give the SSC just 12 more seconds it will reach a off the record speed of 600 MILES PER HOUR! At this speed don’t even dare to take your eyes of the road. The cockpit designed for the SSC had to very well protected, for at those speed, and with two massive engines besides you, the chance of injury would be extremely great. The cockpit in the SSC that would keep Andy green relatively safe. It was designed to allow maximum forward visibility without the aerodynamic shape necessary at those speeds. It would also be air tight and build to withstand violent movements in case of an accident and be completely sound and thermally insulated. The SSC as you would finally achieve its purpose and would continue to inspire many other people around the world to continue the quest for the ultimate speed record

BMW X3 3.0d
True to the German firm's philosophy of building driver-focused cars, the X3 delivers nimble handling and sharp steering. Unfortunately, it lacks practicality, has dubious styling and suffers from poor interior quality. So how has BMW tried to increase the appeal of its smallest SUV? Simple: by giving it one of the best diesel engines in the world.
This should add even more excitement to the driving experience. Lifted straight from the X5, the 215bhp 3.0-litre six-cylinder propels the X3 from 0-60mph in 7.4 seconds. Top speed is 130mph on SE models and 136mph on Sport and M Sport variants.
The engine gives effortless performance, and it's flexible, too. An impressive 500Nm of torque is available from only 1,750rpm for a sharp throttle response in every gear. The only downside is that it's not particularly easy to drive in town, because of the heavy clutch and the six-speed gearbox, which requires a firm hand.
Yet an SUV must do more than just entertain the driver. There's a surprising lack of space in the luggage area although thankfully, passengers in the rear fare better, with lots of legroom.
The main advantage for most diesel buyers is a reduction in fuel bills, but the manual 3.0d returns 35.8mpg on the combined cycle, and we managed to average little better than 32mpg. Opt for the slower X3 2.0d, however, and the figure rises to 39mpg.
At £31,910, the SE costs £3,000 more than the equivalent 2.0-litre, but £4,655 less than the comparable X5. The cabin of our test car suffered no squeaks or rattles, and luxuries such as cruise control and parking sensors are standard. Yet aside from its dynamic ability, the X3 offers nothing the new Toyota RAV4 and Nissan X-Trail don't do for two-thirds of the price.
