2009 Audi TTS
The TT has always been more high-pose than high-performance. Ever since the first one hit the road 10 years ago, it's been a style leader. That's fine. We all like handsome cars. But when it comes to driving fun, the TT has never quite lived up to its supermodel looks.
The TTS -- available as a coupe and a roadster -- is Audi's attempt to dial up the dynamics and win over the dedicated followers of fast cars as well as fashion. The direct-injection 2.0L engine, already familiar to TT buyers in 200-hp form, gets a bigger turbocharger, revised block and head, new intake and exhaust, and various other internal revisions. Power jumps to 265 hp. Marry that to standard quattro four-wheel drive and the VW Group's brilliant S-tronic dual-clutch semi-auto paddle-shift gearbox, and the TTS offers performance that finally elevates the Audi sportster into the Porsche league: 0-62 mph in 5.2 seconds is quicker than a Cayman.

The Tesla Roadster
The Thrust SSC (Super Sonic Car) is the fastest land based vehicle in the world. As the name suggests it can break the sound barrier, therefore obliterating any other car the has touched this world in terms of performance. The SSC was designed by Richard Noble, Glynne Bowsher, Ron Ayers and Jermey Bliss and is a British jet propelled car. The Thrust SSc set the world’s Land Speed Record on October 15, 1997. It achieved a top speed of 1,228 kilometers per hour, breaking the sound barrier in the Black Rock Desert, Nevada. However to achieve these immense speeds the SSC required a huge amount of brute force. The SSC was powered by two after-burning Rolls Royce Spey turbofan engines, attached to the main frame of the SSC. Each of the engines generated a mind-blowing 25,000 pounds of force, capable of accelerating a 10 ton car, from 0 to 100 mph in just 4 seconds. You may be thinking that to today any car can accelerate very similar. Yet if you give the SSC just 12 more seconds it will reach a off the record speed of 600 MILES PER HOUR! At this speed don’t even dare to take your eyes of the road. The cockpit designed for the SSC had to very well protected, for at those speed, and with two massive engines besides you, the chance of injury would be extremely great. The cockpit in the SSC that would keep Andy green relatively safe. It was designed to allow maximum forward visibility without the aerodynamic shape necessary at those speeds. It would also be air tight and build to withstand violent movements in case of an accident and be completely sound and thermally insulated. The SSC as you would finally achieve its purpose and would continue to inspire many other people around the world to continue the quest for the ultimate speed record

BMW X3 3.0d
True to the German firm's philosophy of building driver-focused cars, the X3 delivers nimble handling and sharp steering. Unfortunately, it lacks practicality, has dubious styling and suffers from poor interior quality. So how has BMW tried to increase the appeal of its smallest SUV? Simple: by giving it one of the best diesel engines in the world.
This should add even more excitement to the driving experience. Lifted straight from the X5, the 215bhp 3.0-litre six-cylinder propels the X3 from 0-60mph in 7.4 seconds. Top speed is 130mph on SE models and 136mph on Sport and M Sport variants.
The engine gives effortless performance, and it's flexible, too. An impressive 500Nm of torque is available from only 1,750rpm for a sharp throttle response in every gear. The only downside is that it's not particularly easy to drive in town, because of the heavy clutch and the six-speed gearbox, which requires a firm hand.
Yet an SUV must do more than just entertain the driver. There's a surprising lack of space in the luggage area although thankfully, passengers in the rear fare better, with lots of legroom.
The main advantage for most diesel buyers is a reduction in fuel bills, but the manual 3.0d returns 35.8mpg on the combined cycle, and we managed to average little better than 32mpg. Opt for the slower X3 2.0d, however, and the figure rises to 39mpg.
At £31,910, the SE costs £3,000 more than the equivalent 2.0-litre, but £4,655 less than the comparable X5. The cabin of our test car suffered no squeaks or rattles, and luxuries such as cruise control and parking sensors are standard. Yet aside from its dynamic ability, the X3 offers nothing the new Toyota RAV4 and Nissan X-Trail don't do for two-thirds of the price.
